Faculty Training:
All faculties in the department have undergone Faculty Development Programmes conducted by the Medical and dental Education Units of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. It is the practice of the Department, that all teaching faculties upgrade their clinical skills and knowledge periodically by attending National and International Workshops. Various academic programmes are conducted  for upgrading the scientific knowledge and skills of faculties and students.

Innovative Teaching:
In order, to effectively deliver the scientific content of the subject to the students, the department follows some innovative teaching methods such as the
Tell , Show and Do approach
Small group discussion
One to one teaching

Teaching of practical modules using models is conducted once in 15 days for the under graduates.

A unique preclinical simulation lab allows the Postgraduate students of the Department to develop important surgical skills on simulated Phantom heads prior to taking up surgical work on patients in the OP.

PERIOLAZE:
A special training program for interns during their clinical hours.

Achievements :

EUROPERIO International Conference :
First Periodontics Department in the Country to get acceptance of 10 posters in a once in four years held reputed International conference 7 postgraduates and 4 staff members attended and presented 10 posters in the EUROPERIO8 conference held between 3rd and 6th June 2015 in London.

PIEZE-AWE CHALLENGE :
National competition was conducted by acteon India Pvt Ltd, for the post graduates. 65 teams all over India participated.
Two teams from our department got selected and won the first and second prize which was held at New Delhi on 23.06.2019. They won cash prize of Rs.50,000/- and Rs.30,000/- respectively and a gift voucher worth Rs.2,00,000/- for the department.
