Eligibility:
Candidates who have passed the M.B.B.S/ B.D.S/ B.V.Sc. or B.Sc. Botany/ Zoology/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Allied Health Sciences/ Genetics/ Biomedical Sciences/ Emergency & Trauma care technology/ Agriculture/ B. Pharm/ B.Tech (Biotechnology).
The M.Sc. Biotechnology program is currently offered under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), with total minimum credits of 100. The students are offered core, electives, ability enhancement and skill enhancement courses. The grading system indicates a 10-point scale of evaluation of the performance of students in terms of grade point.
The total performance within a semester will be indicated by a grade point average (GPA) and the student performance overall in the Biotechnology program would be indicated by cumulative grade point average (CGPA). All candidates registered for the M.Sc. Biotechnology program, would carry out a 10 months research under the guidance of a faculty and shall submit their dissertation at the end of the program.
The Department offers core courses for programs offered by other departments, both at postgraduate and undergraduate level. Several elective courses are offered such as Health care biotechnology, Nano-diagnostics, Algal Biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Plant Tissue Culture Technology, Antimicrobial Agents, Biology of Viruses, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Diagnostics, Disorders of Metabolism, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Animal Cell Culture Technology, Scientific Writing and Research Methodology for students of other programs.
Ph.D program
The Department of Biotechnology offers Ph.D program in several fields like Animal Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Biotechnology and Cancer Biology. The Department has a good record of research projects and has experienced faculties to carry out various research projects.
