Sri Ramachandra University offers: 
  • Ph.D. in Nursing (Full time) - Three years
  • Ph.D. in Nursing (Part time) - Four years 
The courses are split into distinct sections that start off with preparation and development, classroom teaching, simulation learning, clinical learning and field learning. Students are given real time training in nursing through community health nursing programs in the urban and rural areas. At the time of graduation, the students are experienced in the field of Medical Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing. Also, the B.Sc (Nursing) students are subjected to exclusive six months internship in the last phase of their course to strengthen the clinical skills of students. 

The M.Sc Nursing course was started with the objective to encourage creativity by concerted efforts in various clinical practices and to identify actual or potential health care problems so as to plan and initiate individualized nursing care to the patients.

Sri Ramachandra Hospital and Sri Ramachandra Medical Center, multispecialty centers of excellence within the campus offers a wide variety of clinical practice. Students are posted in the clinical area as part of their curricular requirement.

ENTRANCE / SELECTION TEST
Selection of the candidates is based on merit of the entrance examination followed by counseling conducted by Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION 
English is the medium of instruction for all the courses and for the examinations of the courses. 

PHYSICAL FITNESS
Candidate should produce a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized medical officer at the time of admission to the course.

A.   B.Sc. Nursing (Basic)

Duration : 4 years (Non semester 3 years & 6 months + 6 months Internship)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as on 31st of December of the year of 
         admission.
2. The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of :
Higher Secondary School Certificate examination (12 year course) Or Senior School 
        Certificate examination (10+ 2) Pre-degree examination (10+2) Or an equivalent with 12 
         years of schooling from a recognized board or University with science (Physics, Chemistry 
         and Biology) and English with a minimum of 45% aggregate in PCBE marks. 
3. Candidates shall be medically fit.
4. Married women are also eligible.

B.  B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic) 
Started on : 29.11.2002
Duration : 2 years (Non Semester)
Annual Intake : 60

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. The upper age limit is 40 years as on 31st of December of the year of admission
2. Candidates should have passed Diploma in Nursing and registered his/her name with any 
    State Nursing Council 
3. There is no domicile restriction and therefore candidates belonging to any State/Union 
    Territory in India are eligible to apply.

C.  M.Sc. Nursing
Started : 11.10.1999
Duration: 2 years Non semester
Annual Intake: 30 (Medical Surgical Nursing -6, Paediatric Nursing -6, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing -6, Community Health Nursing -6, Psychiatric Nursing Nursing-6)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. A candidate who seeks admission to the first year of M.Sc Nursing Course should possess 
    B.Sc N(Basic)/ (Post Basic) degree course awarded by this university or awarded by any 
    other university and recognized as equivalent thereto
2. Should have registered his/her name with a state nursing council.
3. Should have put in a minimum of one year experience after graduation in B.Sc N (Basic) 
    Degree alone in any recognized hospital or educational institution 
4. Eligibility Certificate: Candidates graduated from other universities shall be required to 
    obtain an eligibility certificate from the university by remitting the prescribed fees along 
     with the application form for issue of Eligibility Certificate and produce it at the time of 
     admission.
