About the department
The department of vascular surgery is the youngest in our institute, started in April 2007, under the leadership of Prof. K.S. Vijayaraghavan.
Prof. KSV has been doing vascular surgical work for the past 20 years in our institute under the department of general surgery. But the amount of vascular surgical work has been increasing in leaps and bounds and with the newer technologies available, there was an imminent need for a specialized department to cater to these patients’ needs and hence the department was inaugurated in April 2007 by Col. K.M.Rai, President of the vascular society of India.
The vascular surgical work has been going on for many years and we perform more than 600 surgical procedures and endovascular procedures. Our field of work involves open and endovascular interventions for occlusive arterial disease, aneurysms, venous disorders, AV malformations, carotid surgeries, and vascular trauma.
All the modalities of treatment is available under one roof from open surgical repair to complex endovascular repairs. We are also conducting pioneering research work in stem cell therapy.
