Community Medicine

About the Department / Program
The Department of Community Medicine is imparting teaching and training to the under graduate students in Medicine and post graduate students in Community Medicine. Postgraduate students in other disciplines like Pae-diatrics, Sports medicine are also imparted training in Community Medi-cine. 

The Department of Community Medicine has been conducting workshop on “Basic Epidemiology including Statistics and Critical Appraisal” every year since 2005 with an intake of nearly 65 participants from various col-leges and health institutions. The Department is also conducting ‘Orienta-tion Programme in Research Methodology and Biostatistics’ for Ph.D. Candidates in coordination with The Central Research Facility, SRMC & RI (DU) for two days twice a year since Sep 2009.

The Department of Community Medicine has started conducting workshop on Research Methodology as part of the orientation program for all the postgraduates in Sri Ramachandra Medical College from April 2012.

In continuation with the efforts on sensitisation and update of current public health issues to its students and faculty, the Department celebrates the WHO day on 7th April every year, on World Health Day Theme, providing scope for the students to enhance their knowledge and exhibit their scien-tific and creative talent.

The Department undertakes population based research on priority health issues like, Diabetes, Community acquired pneumonia, Stress among medical students, smoking in public places, chronic kidney disease etc. Some of the research projects are being funded by National and Interna-tional funding agencies and 46 original articles have been published in quality indexed scientific journals by the Department faculties during the last 5 years.
