About the Department / Program
The Department of Endocrinology deals with patient care, education & clinical research. The department has been offering services for the management of Diabetes, Thyroid, Parathyroid, Adrenal, Pituitary, Metabolic bone disease, Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrine disorders. A dedicated team of health care professionals comprising of consultant endocrinologists, diabetologist, clinical nutritionist, diabetes educator and support nursing staff cater to around 3000 patients every month.
Clinical services provided :
Diabetes Care
The diabetes clinic offers comprehensive management of diabetes and prevention of its complications.
Obesity Management :
Apart from the hormonal assessment for obesity which is one of the common endocrine problems, the department offers dietary counseling, physiotherapy, clinical psychology and drug therapy.
Foot Clinic :
The department also runs a comprehensive foot clinic supported by a well established podiatry lab with Pedopodogram, ABI/VPT etc and foot care nurses to detect foot problems early with main focus on preventive diabetic foot care.
Thyroid Clinic :
A coordinated management of thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer and thyroid functional disorders is provided by our team. A follow up thyroid clinic is in place for postoperative and post- radioiodine therapy patients.
Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic :
A dedicated outpatient clinic for paediatric endocrine disorders has been offered once a week to take care of children and adolescents with disorders of growth, puberty, sexual development, thyroid, bone & diabetes.
Metabolic Bone Diseases & Osteoporosis :
The department deals with the commonly unrecognized branch of endocrinology including osteoporosis, osteomalacia & parathyroid disorders. A dedicated DXA scan (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) and bone mineral profile helps in early diagnosis and management of these patients.
Pituitary Disorders :
The department deals with pituitary disorders in collaboration with the Neurosurgeons & Neuroradiologists and is committed in delivering the best care to the patients.
Adrenal Disorders :
We deal with adrenal disorders in collaboration with urologists & radiologists to provide good care to patients.
The department also deals with endocrine evaluation of infertility and rare genetic disorders like congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
