About the Department / Program
The Department of Paediatric takes care of children up to 18 years. We provide comprehensive health care for children all under one roof. Outpatient, Inpatient and emergency services and paediatric subspecialties. General pediatricians of high caliber are available 24 x 7 on all 365 days. The service is supported by advanced age specific diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. The department is chaired by Prof. P. Ramachandran for the past 3 years.
The Head of department is duly assisted by 7 Professor, 11 Associate Professor, 7 Assistant Professors and 7 Senior Residents. The department is financed totally and exclusively by the Medical College.

NEUROLOGY CLINIC
This is a tertiary referral clinic for comprehensive management of seizure, headache, neuro metabolic disorders, neuro degenerative diseases, malformation of brain, auto immune encephalitis, movement disorder etc.
NEPHROLOGY CLINICCare for children with various kidney diseases ranging from treatable disorders without long-term consequences to life-threatening conditions. We care for children with congenital renal anomaly, urinary tract infection, nephrotic syndrome, nephritic syndrome, renal stone disease, acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. Children who are at risk of kidney disease at an early age are educated for a healthy life style.
ASTHMA CINIC
Dedicated to improve the quality of life of children with asthma through excellent clinical care, education and research.
ADOLESCENT CLINIC :
Adolescents in the age group 9 years 18 years are taken care of with reference to their physical and mental problems. We give one to one counseling regarding their problems and render preventive services including immunization, injury prevention, nutritional guidance, stress management and prevention of substance abuse. We identify problems related to adolescent age group such as behavioral problems and scholastic backwardness and provide guidance on life skills, family life education and chronic illness.
PAEDIATRIC RHEUMATOLOGY
Care for children with musculoskeletal and systemic inflammatory disorders like Juvenile arthritis, SLE, Juvenile dermatomyositis, vasculities etc. These are rare conditions which may result in serious complications if not detected early and treated effectively.
KARTHIKEYAN CHILD DEVELOPMENT UNIT
The unit focuses on assessment of children with development problems, early stimulation and early intervention program for high risk newborn babies so as to provide an optimal environment to achieve their developmental potential. We have the full team for multidisciplinary approach including Developmental Pediatricians, Psychologists, Physiotherapist, Speech therapists, Audiologists, Nutritionists, Occupational therapist and Social worker.
PEDIATRIC HEMATOONCOLGY
The Division of Pediatric Hemato Oncology caters to all types of hematological and solid tumours in children and adolescents & all types of pediatric blood disorders, inclusive of palliative care services and transplant services.
PAEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGY
The division of Paediatric endocrinology caters to children with various endocrine problems like short stature, obesity, delayed puberty and thyroid disorders etc.
PAEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY
The division of Paediatric cardiology caters to children with various congenital and acquired heart diseases with latest diagnostic techniques and timely intervention
