About the Department / Program
The department had its inception in the year 1986 and has since been engaging in diagnostic and teaching arenas. The sections of the diagnostic center include histopathology, cytology, hematology, and immunopathology. Also, the department is involved in the active delivery of teaching and training to undergraduate and postgraduate and host of paramedical courses.
The histopathology section on an average receives approximately 17,000 surgical specimens per annum while the cytopathology receives about 11,000 specimens per annum which include fine-needle aspiration cytology (including guided FNAC), fluid cytology and exfoliate cytology. The clinical pathology section is located in the central laboratory and functions round the clock.
A well-equipped library with a collection of 200 readily accessible books is expedited at the department. The Clinical and Histopathology laboratories are accredited with NABH and NABL and are constantly driven to advance with reaccreditations every year.
