Faculty of Physiotherapy

About the Department / Program
Physiotherapy plays a major role in restoring movement and functions along with the prevention of risk factors related to physical dysfunctions. Physiotherapists are consulted concerning the physical problems of patients, in particular, those associated with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory systems and women’s health. Physiotherapists make a physical diagnosis within their scope of practice, the aim is to identify and diagnose the specific components of movement dysfunction responsible for the patient’s physical problems. The therapeutic modalities used by physiotherapists include movement, massage and manipulation techniques together with the application of electro-physical modalities.

About the Department

The Faculty of Physiotherapy was established in August 1993. It was initially affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R University and from 1995 is a Constituent Faculty of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research(Deemed to be University). 

The Faculty of Physiotherapy spreads over a 5 storied individual building. The building has well equipped lecture halls and demonstration halls. Outpatient department which caters to physiotherapy services for around 100 to 150 patients a day is located in the ground floor of the building. Students get training from well experienced faculty with clinical training in multispecialty hospital attached with the university.  .
