Research focus
Virtual Microscopy:

Thrust area:
The research focus of the department is mainly on cadaveric studies with clinical relevance and medical education (e-learning modalities). Anthropometric studies and Anthropology are thrust areas in PhD studies. 

The department encourages its students to develop an attitude of scientific  enquiry and learn contemporary research techniques. Students are familiarised with recent scientific advances and taught how to identify gaps in existing knowledge in specific areas. This would enable students to plan investigative procedures for research, analyse data critically and draw logical conclusions.

Project – Clinical Anatomy :
The department has undertaken an ambitious multimedia based project on clinical anatomy. 100 common clinical conditions have been selected for Phase I of the project. Multimedia based video lessons are being prepared in the department with relevant anatomical details, brief clinical findings and treatment modalities. At the end of each topic, relevant sectional anatomy is also included. Sectional anatomy images have been obtained under license from the Visible Human Project of the National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, Maryland, USA.

Infrastructure:
Computer animation lab with three full time software animators located within dept. Virtual Microscopy lab with Nikon research microscope, Olympus CCD Camera, LCD projection system, Digital Slides all tissues, motic digital viewer software and MOODLE based e-learning platform.

Memberships :
All faculty members are members of Society of Clinical Anatomists. Faculty members are also members of Anatomical society of India. Faculty members regularly attend all annual national conferences.
