Dent(ART)ist 2.0

Art is a part of dentistry and dental materials are used on daily basis for restoring smiles of patients. For a change, the Faculty of Dental Sciences planned to utilize these materials to create smiles on the persons viewing it and thus the 2nd version of the program “Dent(ART)ist” , a competition focusing on art using dental materials evolved. The program was conducted on 23/01/2020 ahead of Republic day with concept of “Nation’s pride: Republic India’s platinum celebrations” for undergraduate students: first year to internship and teaching and non teaching staffs. Twenty six teams comprising of hundred and four (104 )participants enrolled for the program. The teams were divided into Preclinical, comprising of first year and second year students, Clinical – comprising of students from third year to internship and Faculty categories. The teams were given two hours for fabrication of models related to National integrity with only materials used in dentistry. The award ceremony was held on 28.01.2020 and Dr. K.Balaji Singh, Dean- Students graced the occasion and distributed the prizes. The best three teams were given cash prizes in the preclinical and clinical categories. One faculty team received cash prize and a book sponsored by Prof. Dr. K V Somasundaram. The artistic excellence displayed had immense amount of appreciation from students, faculty and the public.
