Dept. of Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences in collaboration with the Commissionerate for the Welfare of Differently Abled, Govt. of Tamil Nadu organized a Seminar & Workshop on Disability Assessment and Certification Procedure for Hearing Impairment, Speech and Language Disability as per RPWD Act 2016 with the theme, ‘Disability Certification’ on 29th & 30th August 2019. 50 professionals including audiologists and speech & language pathologists working in the District Differently Abled Welfare Office attended.

SRIHER (DU)

SRIHER (DU) in collaboration with Sanofi organized a Webinar on The Changing Face of Clinical Trials on 29th August 2019. Ms. Yasmin Shenoy, Senior Director – Regulatory Affairs, Sanofi India Ltd. and Dr. Chirag Trivedi, Director & Head of Clinical Study Unit, India and South East Asia Cluster, Sanofi India Ltd. rendered lectures on the recent updates on the regulations for conduct of clinical trials. Members of Institutional Ethics Committee, Clinical Research Team from SRIHER (DU), faculty members and students attended.

The Clinical Research Division at the CRF and the Institutional Ethics Committee of SRIHER (DU) jointly conducted a Workshop on Good Clinical Practice on 19th August 2019. Dr. Arati Borkar, Director, Quality Assurance, DiagnoSearch Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad rendered lectures and interactive sessions on various aspects of conducting clinical research. A quiz was also conducted. 117 members including clinicians, research scholars, faculty members, clinical trial coordinators and students participated.

Dept. of Pathology conducted a National Conference on Recent Updates and Multidisciplinary Approach to Respiratory, Head & Neck and CNS Pathology from 8th to 10th August 2019. The speakers were Prof. Anand Lagoo, Pathology, Duke University, USA; Dr. Gayathri Amonkar, Assoc. Prof., B. Y. L. Nair Hospital, Mumbai and Dr. Shubdha Kane, Former Head, Dept. of Pathology, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and Dr. B. N. Nandeesh, Assoc. Prof., Pathology, NIMHANS, Bengaluru. 170 delegates from all over the country attended.

Depts. of Pediatrics, Neonatology, Clinical Nutrition, Pediatric Nursing & Community Health Nursing and Lactation Support Nurses celebrated the World Breastfeeding Week 2019 with the theme, ‘Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding’ from 1st to 7th August 2019. Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, Principal Secretary of Transport Dept., Govt. of Tamil Nadu unfolded the theme and Ms. S. Mahati, Carnatic Musician graced the inaugural ceremony of the event. 1500 faculty members, staff and public participated.

Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing, Faculty of Nursing organized the World Breastfeeding Week celebration with the theme, ‘Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding’ on 5th August 2019 at G Block, SRH. The events included:

  • Skit on ‘Awareness on Breastfeeding’ for antenatal mothers by M. Sc. Nursing students
  • Health talk to postnatal mothers135 mothers benefited.

    The alumni chapter of the Faculty of Physiotherapy organized an interactive session on Career Guidance Program by Mr. Manigandan N. (Alumnus, BPT 1994-’95), Director, ANN Physio Care Clinics, UK on 1st August 2019. 74 students and faculty members attended.

    Central Research Facility conducted International Seminar on Recent Approaches in Learning Perspectives of Pharmacy Education on 30th July 2019. The resource persons were Dr. Noohu Abdulla Khan, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Clinical Pharmacy & Chairman, E-Learning Committee, College of Pharmacy, King Khalid University and Prof. Mahadevan Nanjaian, Dept. of Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia. The activities included Virtual Pharmacy as an Educational Tool & Current Trends of Nutraceuticals in Health and Diseases. 150 delegates from Pharmacy colleges in Chennai participated.
