Faculty of Physiotherapy organized a Series of Student and Faculty Interactive Sessions on 20th December 2019 by Dr. Steven Milanese, Adjunct Faculty, Faculty of Physiotherapy, Sri Ramachandra Medical College (DU) & Director – International Center for Allied Health Evidence, University of South Australia, Adelaide. 70 postgraduates and faculty members attended.

Basic Life Support Techniques Training Program was organized on 11th December 2019. 154 NSS volunteers received training.

Faculty of Pharmacy conducted the 58th National Pharmacy Week Celebrations on 10th & 11thDecember 2019. On 10th December 2019 Inter Pharmacy Collegiate indoor games like chess, table tennis, carrom and outdoor games like cricket, futsal, tennicoit and throw ball were conducted. The sports events were inaugurated by Mr. Naveed Ahmed, Director, SynerHeal Pharmaceutical Company, Chennai. The other events included elocution, poster presentations, adzap, spoof the scene, eatomania, extempore and rubix cube. On 17th December 2019, the valedictory function started with a motivational talk ‘212 Degree the Extra Degree’ by Mr. M. G. Swaminathan, Consultant Trainer & Motivational Speaker, Chennai.

Dept. of Biochemistry conducted a workshop for medical educationists on the theme, Train the Trainers on 10th December 2019 in association with the Medical Education Unit, SRIHER (DU). Dr. Senthil Ragunathan, Consultant Stroke Physician, Nottingham City Hospital, Nottingham Foundation Training Program Director Lead – NUH, delivered a talk on ‘Role of Educational Supervision in Medical Education’. Dr. Ganesh Subramanian, Assoc. Postgraduate Dean, Training Program Director (GIM), East Midland Deanary, NUH conducted sessions on ‘Mentoring Skill’, ‘Role of Feedback’ and ‘E-portfolio & its Implementation’. 35 faculty members from different departments of SRMC attended the workshop.

SRIHER – Center for Health Systems and Medical Engineering established by Sri Ramachandra Engineering and Technology (SRET) in collaboration with the State University of New York (SUNY), Binghamton, USA was inaugurated on 7th December 2019. A MoA was also signed between SRIHER & SUNY. The chief guest was Prof. Donald G. Nieman, Executive Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Provost, BU-SUNY. The other guests of honor were Prof. Krishnaswamy Srihari, Executive Vice-Provost for International Initiatives and Chief Global Affairs Officer & Dean, Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science, BU-SUNY; Prof. Mohammad T. Khasawneh, Chair, Systems Science and Industrial Engineering & Director, Healthcare Systems Engineering Center, BU – SUNY, USA and Prof. Dileep N. Malkhede, Advisor, AICTE, New Delhi.

Depts. of Hepatology and Nephrology, celebrated the National Organ Donation Day on 27th November 2019. The activities included:
• Felicitation of donor families and one cadaver liver recipient
• Walkathon by faculty members and students to highlight the need for organ donation
• Organ donation awareness workshop by Mohan Foundation, Chennai
• Poster presentation
• Skit to create awareness on organ donation by AHS students

As part of the Breast Cancer Awareness month, Sri Ramachandra Center for Women Advancement organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Program for employees of SRIHER (DU) on 29th October 2019.
The activities included:
• Guest lecture
• Presentation on the clinical importance of self-examination
• Audience interaction with the expert panel regarding the symptoms, signs and self-examination Women employees of SRIHER (DU) above the age of 40 years participated.

Our university faculty and staff members won the following trophy in Gurufest 2K19 inter collegiate staff tournament held at Gurunanak College, Chennai on 14th December 2019.

Dept. of Optometry organized an inter-collegiate sports meet, OPTOLYMPICS 2K19, the first ever annual sports meet conducted in the Optometry fraternity from 14th to 16th November 2019. Ms. Poongothai Senthilkumar, President, Optometric Association of Tamil Nadu was the chief guest. The inaugural events included march-past, Optolympic torch lighting and oath-taking ceremony. Kabaddi (Men), Volleyball (Men), Kho-Kho (Women), Throwball (Women), Cricket (Men and Women), Chess, Carrom and track & field events. The winner of the team events was the Optometry team, SRIHER. 200 participants from nine optometry colleges from all over Tamil Nadu took part in the event.
