Happenings in June 2019

Internal Quality Assurance Cell
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a Preparatory Peer Team Visit for NAAC from 19^th to 21^st June 2019. The peer team was chaired by Dr. S. Rangaswami, Former Vice-Chancellor, SRIHER (DU). Other experts were Prof. Sivasubramanian, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore; Dr. C. Thangamuthu, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bharathidasan University; Dr. Ciddi Veeresham, Former Principal & Professor of Pharmacy, Kakatiya University and Prof. Seema Hallikermath, Dental Sciences, KLE University (DU).

Dept. of Surgical Oncology
The 1^st International Conference on Cancer Rehabilitation in South India was organized by the Dept. of Surgical Oncology on 8^th & 9^th June 2019. Prof. V. Shanta, Chairman, Cancer Institute (WIA), Chennai was the chief guest. 120 delegates attended.

Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology
Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology organized Oral Cancer and Precancer Camp to commemorate ‘World No Tobacco Day’ from 30^th May to 1^st June 2019. 79 patients were screened of which, two patients were diagnosed with oral cancer, 10 with oral precancer and six with tobacco related oral lesions. All the patients were given tobacco cessation counseling.

Dept. of ENT, Head and Neck Surgery
Dept. of ENT, Head and Neck Surgery conducted the 14th Ramachandra Temporal Bone Dissection Course on 25^th May 2019. 40 delegates participated.

Dept. of Psychiatry
Dept. of Psychiatry observed the World Schizophrenia Day on 24^th May 2019. More than 80 people participated. The events included:

Faculty of Nursing
Sri Ramachandra College of Nursing in collaboration with Golden Butterflies supported by CanKids KidsCan agency organized a seminar on Pediatric Palliative Care on 3^rd May 2019. Inaugural address was given by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Trustee, Golden Butterflies, Children’s Palliative Care Foundation. Dr. Aarthi Surendranath & Dr. Rejiv Rajendranath, Senior Consultants, Integrated Cancer Care Group, Apollo Hospitals and Ms. Aneka Paul & Ms. Nandhini Sundar, Trustees, Golden Butterflies, were the guest faculty.166 students and faculty members attended.

SRMC & RI
SRMC & RI, an MCI nodal center conducted a Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP) for the curriculum committee members of colleges allotted to our nodal center and our faculty members from 2^nd to 4^th May 2019. 30 faculty members attended.

Sports
Mr.Enoch Newton Joseph, 3^rd yr., BPT won gold medals in 100 m and 200 m track events at Medi-Olympics held at Montenegro, Europe on 25^th June 2019.
Our University Cricket Men’s team won the Thiruvallur District IV Division League Championship 2018 – 2019 on 23^rd June 2019 and was promoted to III Division.

Our University students won the following trophy in STANLEA ‘19 inter-medical collegiate tournament from 13^th to 17^th June 2019 at Stanley Medical College, Chennai.
