SRIHER (DU)

The 3rd Dr. S. Thanikachalam Endowment Oration was delivered by Prof. Roy K. George, Principal, Baby Memorial College of Nursing and Director-Academics, Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikode, Kerala on ‘Dynamic Nursing Leadership in India: Prospects and Challenges’ on 28th May 2019.1

Faculty of Dental Sciences

The alumni committee of the Faculty of Dental Sciences conducted a Professional Enhancement Talk by Dr. Prazwala Chirravur (Alumni, BDS, 1997-’98), Resident, Dept. of Oral Medicine, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston on 21st May 2019. 65 faculty members and interns attended.2

Depts. of Periodontology and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Depts. of Periodontology and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery conducted a Workshop on Suturing Techniques on 19th May 2019. Dr. Stuart Orton-Jones, Dentist and International Lecturer from Northamptonshire, England was the resource person. 32 delegates attended the program.

Dept. of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics

Dept. of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in association with the Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics Association of Tamil Nadu [CEAT] conducted the 5th State Level PG Colloquium titled, Biofilm Warfare – An Evidence Based Symposium on 9th May 2019. 145 delegates from across the state attended.

Pharmacy Education Unit organized the 11th Faculty Development Program on ‘Skill Sets in Pharmacy Curriculum’ on 3rd May 2019. 83 faculty members attended.

Medical Education Unit

Medical Education Unit, an MCI recognized nodal center for Faculty Development Program conducted the 1st contact session of the 8th Advance Course in Medical Education (ACME) from 24th to 28th Apr. and the 2nd contact session of the 7th ACME from 28th to 30th April 2019. 25 and 24 participants attended respectively.

SRMC & RI, an MCI nodal center conducted a Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP) for curriculum committee members of colleges allotted to our nodal center along with our faculty members from 15th to 17th April 2019. 30 faculty members attended.

Dept. of Hepatology

Dept. of Hepatology inaugurated Fatty Liver Clinic on 29th March 2019. CME was conducted on ‘Current Perspectives in Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease’. Prof. L. Venkatakrishnan, HOD, Dept. of Medical Gastroenterology, PSG Hospitals, Coimbatore; Prof. Ashish Goel, Dept. of Hepatology, CMC Vellore; Dr. Malathi S., Senior Consultant, Dept. of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Sundaram Medical Foundation, Chennai and Dr. N. Murugan, Senior Consultant, Dept. of Hepatology, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai were the guest speakers. 100 delegates attended.

Dr. Ajith Raja, CRI secured the 1st place in ‘Above 5.7 Category’ and 4th place in the ‘70 kg category’ in the Mr. Tamil Nadu State Level Body Building Championship on 26th May 2019 at Kandhasamy Kandar School, Namakkal.
