Report on Pongal Celebration conducted by AGAL TAMIL MANDRAM on 8th January 2020

AGAL TAMIL MANDRAM celebrated Tamilar Thirunaal “Pongal” on 8^th January, 2020. The programme was inaugurated by the Agal mandram leader Dr.T.R.Muralidharan, Dr.Senthil kumar – Principal, Allied health sciences and Dr.Arun Prasad, Pediatrician who was also the judge of the debate competition. Students from various constitute colleges were participated enthusiastically in the competitions like Poetry writing, drawing on a theme and a debate. There were 84 students who contributed their participation towards this programme.
Of course the debate attracted lot of audience.

The contribution by the students towards the programme was immense. All the winners were awarded with medals and certificates. Other students were encouraged with participation certificates. The following are the winners

Poetry competition
I place- Bharathippriyan – BMS(1^st year)
II place – Vaishnavi – M.Sc SLHS
III place – Harshini Mrithula – BMS (1^st year)

Drawing competition
I place- M.S.Yeshwanthi – MBBS (7^th sem)
II place – M.S.Keshav Kumar – BDS (1^st year)
III place- Roshan Kumar – AHS (1^st year)

Debate competition
Preliminary rounds were kept for shortlisting the final 6 students for debate competition. On the final day the debate was conducted which had a huge welcoming and appreciation by the audience. Dr.Arun Prasad judged the debate in a very interesting way that made the programme to reach another level. He declared the result stating “the soul purpose of being educated is to attain good values and discipline in life and not for money”.
