School of Nursing

Physical facilities
A unitary spacious three-floor with a total of 5198 square meters exclusively for nursing education provides conductive teaching-learning environment and with a space of 12795sq.ft allotted.  The School of Nursing  has adequate infrastructure facilities as laid down by our apex bodies Indian Nursing Council New Delhi and Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai. It consists of laboratories for Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing and Community Health Nursing. Also it has a spacious nutrition laboratory, OBG and Paediatric Nursing laboratory in common for School and College of Nursing.Adequate lecture halls are available .  A multipurpose hall is available to accommodate 3 (Three) batches of students at a time.

Guidance and counseling of students
When an individual student is unable to cope up with studies and encounters any problem, counseling is given by the concerned teacher individually.
 If unsuccessful, the principal of School of Nursing counsels the students. In case of extreme situation, the services of university students counselor is utilized.

Parent-Teacher meet
Parent-Teacher meet is conducted as and when needed.

Library facilities:
The university’s central library called the Harvard Learning Centre is a fully equipped air-conditioned large library ideally located in an area of 40,000sq.ft. The students and faculty gain free access to it round the clock. A large collection of nursing journals gathered over a period of 25 years provide a rich reading and reference materials for the Nursing students and faculty. The division of books are as follows

Besides the above facility, there is a departmental library for School of Nursing with 275 nursing books.

Hostel facilities:
Sufficient accommodations are available with all facilities. There are separate hostels for girls and exclusively for GNM students. A nominal hostel and mess fee is being collected. Recreational facilities, outdoor and indoor game facilities are available.

Medical facilities:
Free annual checkup is conducted for the students. Free medical care is provided at the student clinic of the outpatient block.  Apart from this a student medical coverage of up to Rs. 50,000/- on admission, Rs.1000/- for investigation and Rs. 500/- for drugs could be availed on an annual payment of Rs. 1000/-

Campus environmental day
160 students and 14 faculty participated in the “ECO walk at SRIHER campus on 07.03.2013.

Nurses day and Alumni Reunion celebration
Mrs. Archana, Clinical instructor, School of Nursing presented a paper on reduce child
mortality on 08.05.2013 at College of Nursing, SRIHER.

World Aids Day celebration
50 DGNM students and eight faculty participated in the “ECO Walk” organized by at SRU campus on 30.11.2013 and display a skit programme by 10 internship students.

World Disabled Day Celebration
25 DGNM students participated in the “ECO Walk” at SRIHER campus on 03.12.2013.

Lamp lighting ceremony and graduation programme
It’s jointly celebrated every year by both School and College of Nursing.

Alumni association day celebration
Alumni nurses day is celebrated periodically in association with College of Nursing.

Status of the out gone students:
Students are absorbed by SRH after completion of the course students current status of the out gone students.
Many of the students who have completed here are given first preference and have done their    B.Sc. Nursing (Post basic) and M.Sc. (N) here. Some of the students are working abroad.
