Prof. Saratchandra was the first Dean of Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute. He was a well-known surgeon, an excellent teacher and great academician. He was responsible for guiding SRMC through the difficult years of its infancy. He did his under graduation from Kilpauk Medical College and post graduation in surgery from Stanley Medical College. He did FRCS from England & Edinburgh. He later joined Government service and retired as Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery from Madras Medical College. He was Dean of SRMC from 1985 to 1987. He was a kind-hearted person and loved students. He could teach any topic from Anatomy to Gynecology. We are proud that such an illustrious man was associated with SRMC

Prof. Bhargava He was basically an Anatomist. He was very popular among students. He encouraged lots of co-curricular activities apart from the regular academic activities. He was living inside the campus and he used to make sudden visits to the hostel.

Prof. C.N. Deivanayagam

Prof. C.N. Deivanayagam

Prof. C.N. Deivanayagam He was a much disciplined, dynamic, energetic, enthusiastic and a very knowledgeable person. He is basically a chest physician. He has a wide interest in HIV and radiation hazards. He is very good orator and well known among the medical fraternity. He used to mingle with students very freely. He was mainly responsible in maintaining the campus during the government days.

Dr.D.Gnanaprakasam

Dr.D.Gnanaprakasam

Dr. D.Gnanaprakasam was born on 12th June 1932 in Thanjavur district. His father was a teacher in a primary school. He had his schooling in Town high school, Kumbakonam. He pursued his PUC in Kumbakonam. He finished his MBBS from Stanley Medical College in 1961. He went on to serve Indian Army for 5 years and returned to finish his MS from Stanley Medical College. Later he joined Govt. Service to serve in Govt. General Hospital, Chennai with Prof. Veera Reddy and Prof. N. Rangabashyam. He retired voluntarily from service to join Sri Ramachandra Medical College in 1985. He joined as Associate Professor in General .Surgery, later rose to the position of Head of the Department before taking over as Dean of the institution in 1992

G.P, as he is fondly known is popular for his outstanding surgical skills. He is a proficient teacher and an astute clinician. G.P's practical surgical points were appreciated by his junior colleagues and his postgraduates. Certain finer surgical tips provided by him have not found place in surgical texts till date. He is a strong humanitarian who is fond of his postgraduates and assistants. He is widely respected both within and outside the institution. He has been a constant source of inspiration for his surgical students. He has been a strong guide to many of his junior colleagues. He is a person who all his colleagues look up to when they need help, guidance and motivation. His contribution to the growth of our institution has been tremendous. Even after retirement he continues to serve this institution as Director (Academic administration). He has deep interests in Astrology and this is a well known fact to his close associates. He leads a happy family with wife Kanchana, 2 children and 4 grand children. He is a man who has been in this institution all these 20 years and there cannot be a better moment to remember and compliment him.
