February 28th 2020 “National Science Day” with theme “ Women in Science”
Identified by the department of Science and Technology, Government of India, organized by SRCWA at Seminar Hall of Medical College building.
National Science day is celebrated every year to commemorate the discovery of the Raman effect. On this day Sir C V Raman announced the Raman effect, for which he was awarded Nobel prize in 1930.
This year’s theme - Women in Science.
The objective of the programme was learning through sharing, by the women scientists of SRIHER, to the women of SRIHER.
The focus of the programme was on

March 8th 2020 International Womens Day ( IWD)
This day was celebrated on 10/03/2020 at SRIHER. International Women’s day’s 2020 UN theme was : “Generation Equality, Realizing Women’s Rights”. By this women achiever’s, raising awareness of bias, we can bring about a change. This, day is for women’s right and world peace. In SRIHER, this day was celebrated as “SMILE STAR DAY” by paying tributes to late Dr.Jyotsna Murthy MS.Mch.DNB PhD (DOB:3/2/1962 – DOD:16/02/2020) and Late Dr.Sreeleka - MSc (Nursing) PhD ( DOB: 8/3/1975 – DOD: 19/11/2019).
Mr.Murthy ( Dr.J. Jyotsna Murthy’s husband & Dr.Sreelekhas’s husband parents were presented after paying tributes to them by several of our faculties and staff, “PLAQUES” were given to their families. This day will never be forgotten in the history of SRCWA of SRIHER, as there were moments of emotions both by their families and SRIHER family
Dr.Jyotsna Murthy( 3/2/1962 – 16/02/2020) “SMILE TRAIN” hero remembered. “A life well lived is long enough” - Lucius Annaeus Senoca.
She was Capable, compassionate, surgeon, great human being and above all she was held in high esteem by her patients, colleagues, peers and friends. A meticulous plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgeon. Her administrative characteristics were open mind and learn from her own mistakes and those of others also.
She had a multidisciplinary cleft care unit, werein the speech therapist, orthodontist and nutritionist were able to give, great care to the cleft care repaired children, who would otherwise have lived in constant mental and physical agony.
Though she is not with us, her legacy will always be, Live, in the smiles of tens thousands of children. As her name suggests Jyotsna meaning “moonlight”, she became instrumental to light up many lives.
Dr.Sreeleka ( MSc (Nursing) PhD ( 8/3/1975 – 19/11/2019) was born on the 8th March 1975, this is the day (when International Women’s Day was celebrated for the “FIRST TIME” by the United Nations 8/3/1975) What a co incidence !!! – She was the Vice Principal of the college of Nursing, a humble, silent, highly knowledge professor of nursing, loved by students and colleagues.
“ A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination of instil a love of learning” states Brad Hendry. These words fit her best.

Campus environment day celebrated on the birth anniversary of (Late) Mrs.Kamalam Ramasamy Udayar ( wife of our founder chancellor late Mr.N P V.Ramasamy Udayar) as she was fond of fauna and flora of the campus. Kamalam Ramaswamy Udayar “ Campus Environmental Day “ Covid 19 lockdown and Environmental impact” – Environmental effects of corona virus, cleaner water, cleaner air. “ we share the world with plants and Animals. They have come to occupy their places.
This year, in view of the lockdown due to covid 19, an online posters were presented by Prof.Mathangi, Department of Mind Body Medicine.

“CME for medical postgraduates of SRMC & RI” :August 12th 2020 - Understanding the basics of Covid - 19.
Organized for the newly joined first year Medical Post graduates on 12/08/2020. The Scientific programme “ Covid 19 with clinical features and the laboratory tests available for detecting Sars COV 2 along with the available Imaging modalities and interpretations of the X-ray chest PA view with HRCT thorax and the co rad scores and the importance with clinical presentation and the management of mild to moderate Covid 19 in the HDU and later about the severe Covid 19 in the ICU were all discussed by experts, pediatric Covid 19 was also discussed in the programme.

International Girl Child Day Oct 11th ) Dr.Vijayalakshmi Thanasekaraan gave a talk on “ My voice, our equal future” - A better world inspired by adolescent girls, The talk was to the faculty and students (of Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital in collaboration with Medical Education Unit, SBMCH, Chengalpet) about the hardships and how to overcome the barriers to reach a height on society by the girl children.
The theme for 2020 – 9th International Day of the Girl child also called the day of girls) Oct 11th Since 2012. This is to increase an awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide. This inequality includes areas such as access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care and protection from discrimination, violence against women and forced child marriage.
As you are all aware in India girl child is considered as a burden. People forget that today’s girl child is tomorrow’s women. Hence, enable women to think critically and also involve them decision making.
“Beti Bachao, Beti Padhan ( Save the daughter, educate the daughter) is a campaign by the government of India.
To mention about a few Girl Children, who had to break the barrier to attain a position.

Seema Samridhi Kushwaha is an advocate at the Supreme Court of India. She is known for being legal counsel of victim in 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder case. Because of her long legal fighting, all the four adult convicts were executed by hanging at Tihar Jail on 20th March 2020.
Laxmi Agarwal is an Indian Acid attack survivor, a campaigner for rights of acid attack victims, and a TV host.

Dr.Mc Loughlin describes research from Western countries. He described about inter related-variable of work and family. He asked the faculty what does it do to create healthy work & family balance.
