Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas while they are in formative years.
MIC has envisioned creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs) across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in these campuses.
Major Focus of the council:
To encourage and explore the creative qualities of the Students, The Central Research Facility and Faculties of Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC&RI) (Deemed to be University) had organized a “Students Carnival” programme called INNOVATION BAZAAR – 2018 on the 12th of March 2018, Monday at the University main auditorium. The Program was sponsored by financial support from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The program provided a platform for students of the Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD Research Scholars of all the constituent colleges of the Deemed University to showcase their inspiring concepts that can lead to novel drugs, medical devices, products / diagnostic kits and ideas that can lead to societal benefits. The focus area of the program was INNOVATIVE IDEAS IN HEALTH SCIENCES and more than 350 students have participated. The programme saw the exhibition of 132 Posters and 14 Models that were conceptualized and developed exclusively by the student teams.
To identify innovative research talent of among young researchers in the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research (SRIHER), ANVESHAN - STUDENT RESEARCH CONVENTION - 2019 was organised on 11th January 2019 at the University Auditorium. Association of Indian Universities (AIU) guidelines were adopted to conduct the events. This programme was organised by the Central Research Facility and Innovation Counsel of SRIHER. First sensitization meeting was organised by the Vice-Chancellor, in the presence of Dean and Principals of constituent faculty of SRIHER. It was decided to organise the programme on 11th January 2019, to facilitate the nomination of selected students to the Zonal level within the time frame. The ANNVESHAN brochure (printed and e-copy), with the registration details (QR code linked to Google form) has been sent to all the Deans, Principals, HOD to circulate among the students across their faculty. The poster details and their assigned number were informed to the student- researchers by email on 10th Jan 2019 with a request to display their poster by 8.30 am on 11th Jan 2019. On 11th Jan 2019, the programme was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor in the presence of Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Research) and Dean & Asst Dean (Students). At the time of inauguration the following external experts, invited to evaluate the research were also present.
Dr Guhan Jeyaraman, Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology, IIT, & Co-ordinator Incubation Cell, IITM, Chennai was the Chief guest for the valedictory function. Following his valedictory addresses, the Controller of Examination announced the best presentation followed by the certificate and cash award to the winners by the Dean (Research). The Chief guest, External experts, University Authorities, Students and supporting department were thanked. All the participants, and contributors were issued a participation certificate
