OUR PROGRAMMES
 
When children are referred to the centre they are met by the Administrator who evaluates the child's requirements and parental needs and then given the following options:
  • Infant Stimulation programme- for 0 to 2 years
  • Early Intervention programme- for 2 to 6 years
  • Vidya Sudha Intensive Multidisciplinary Programme (VIMP)- for 2 to 5 years
  • Pre-academic (Pre-Primary) programme - for 3 to 7 years
  • Remedial services - for 3 years to 15 years
  • Parent training (One on one /Individual private clinics)- for 3 years to 15 years
 
A. Infant Stimulation Programme

Started with the objectives of providing structured services to infants with developmental delays below the age of 2 years, this programme provides the support and assistance to parents in maximizing their child's development through play based activities. UPANAYAN check list is used as curriculum.






B. (a) Early Intervention programme for Intellectual disabilities Cerebral Palsy and Multiple disabilities

Classrooms have been structured where the low student-teacher ratio facilities individual attention for each child. All children are evaluated on standardized and informal tests by a multi disciplinary team. All programmes are individualized(IEP) and based on the strengths, abilities and needs of each child. Children receive individual and group therapy sessions. UPANAYAN - II (between 2 years and 6 years of age) check list is used as curriculum.

(b) Early Intervention programme for Cerebral Palsy and Multiple disabilities

C. Vidya Sudha Intensive Multidisciplinary Programme (VIMP)

This programme is introduced for the welfare of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Children between 2 years and 4 years of age are eligible candidates for this programme. The Communication based (like Comdeall) check list has been decided to follow as educational curriculum for the programme. Multidisciplinary team which consists of Special educator, Occupational therapist and Speech pathologist is working together with parents as full time. This team will give specific attention in the areas of Communication, Socialization, Life skills, Hand function, Sensory integration and etc.,


D. Pre-Academic (Pre-primary) programme

This programme is introduced for the welfare of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),Children with Specific Learning Disabilities and Children with Mild Cognitive Impairments. Children between 3 years and 7 years of age are eligible candidates for this programme. The Montessori education and the Kindergarten training have been decided to follow as educational curriculum for this programme. Besides, Multidisciplinary team which consists of Special educator, Occupational therapist, Speech pathologist and Clinical Nutritionist will be working together with parents on need based. This team will give specific attention in the areas of Communication, Socialization, Life skills, Hand function, Sensory integration, Regular academics (Nursery education), Hand writing training and School readiness skills etc.,


E. Remedial services

Remedial instruction can help struggling learners shore up their basic skills. This extra support can help them catch up to their peers. Remedial programs are not the same thing as special education. Special education is designed to meet the ongoing needs of Students with disabilities to help them make progress in school. Whereas Remedial programs are designed to close the gap between what a student knows and what he's expected to know.





F. Parent Training Programme (PTP)

It is an advisory and referral unit. Children referred to the centre are assessed and evaluated by a team of professionals. The Children with Special Needs between the age of 3 years and 15d years are taking into consideration for this programme. Depending on their needs, they are:-
  • Referred to mainstream schools with periodic inputs for any specific area of difficulty
  • Attend a bi weekly programme and later if required are admitted into the centre or are referred to other special schools
  • One on one Special education training, ADL training and Feeding training are given much importance.
