Program objectives:
At the end of the program the student will be able to:
- Understand the foundations of law as it applies to medicine and medical ethics
- Understand the foundation of doctor patient relationship
- Effectively communicate with patients and colleagues
Intended for:
Phase III students – VI, VII semester.
Duration:
39 weeks/ 22 hours – 16 hours of didactic lecture, 4 hours of competition and 2 hours of open house.
Description:
This is a unique program to enhance the overall professional development of the medical student. It consists of a series of lectures that are complemented by competitions and open house on career guidance. The student will be able to acquire the attitudes and skills necessary for effective functioning of a physician –which has been traditionally overlooked as hidden curriculum. The competitions are incorporated with the view of imparting knowledge of professional skills in health care in a palatable way to the students. Open house on career guidance aim to help students make more informed and better educational and career choices.
Faculty: Multidisciplinary
Faculty with identified strengths in respective areas will be used for didactic sessions and open house on career guidance.
Resources:
Objective of each session will be provided to the faculty.
Feedback:
The program will be closely monitored by the program incharges and periodic readjustments made. Student’s feedbacks are taken at the end of a semester using survey monkey.
