Thrust areas for your department
The Department is actively involved in addition to diagnosis of dental diseases, early detection of oral cancer and precancer; subsequent investigations are performed and medical management is carried out for the same. In this regard, practice of tobacco cessation counselling is being done routinely for patients reporting to the Dental OPD and Precancer clinic as a part of cancer prevention programme. Medically compromised patients reporting to Dental OP are evaluated before undergoing dental treatment. The Department has carried out many research projects on various aspects of salivary diagnostics with reference to systemic diseases like HIV, hepatitis, liver diseases, cardiac failure and renal diseases etc. The Department has employed various advanced imaging modalities like MRI, CT, ultrasound, nuclear medicine etc to correlate between oral and systemic diseases.
