Inauguration of Student Council – 27th February 2021

The investiture ceremony of the new student council 2021-2022 for SRIHER took place on February 27th 2021, at the seminar hall, medical college block. It was hosted by Ms. Jessika Adeline, CRI Dental College and Mr. Anders Spencer, BOT 2nd year. The programme started on an auspicious note by seeking the blessings of the Almighty in the form of a prayer song followed by the SRIHER anthem. The festivities continued with a mystifying classical dance performance by Ms. Sathvika and Ms. Anvitha from final year, BDS.
A warm welcome address was given by Dr. Lakshmi Venkatesh, Associate Professor, Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences and the Assistant Dean of students – Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.

The President of the student council 2019- 2021, Ms. Shree Krishnamoorthy, CRRI M.B.B.S., took a walk down memory lane by listing the achievements of the previous council, setting high standards and handing over the torch of legacy and responsibilities to the newly elected student council team members 2021- 2022.
Following this Dr. Leena Dennis Joseph, Associate Dean of Students shared her experiences working with the previous council and introduced the newly elected President Ms. Salikaa Lakshmanan. Dr. Anandhan, Dean Medical College felicitated the induction ceremony by handing over the badge to the newly elected President, Ms. Salikaa Lakshmanan. He also handed her the letter with appointment as Vice Dean (notional) for the medical college. Ms. Sallikaa introduced the council members as they came up the stage and received their badges from the dignitaries – Dr. P. V. Vijayaraghavan, Vice- Chancellor, Dr. S. Anandan, Dean – Medical College, Dr. Mahesh Vakamudi, Dean of Faculties and Dr. K. Balaji Singh, Dean of Students.

The dignitaries also distributed the certificates of appreciations to the members of the student council for 2019-2020. Dr Balaji Singh and Dr. Mahesh Vakamudi addressed the gathering and appreciated activities conducted and the active role played by the earlier student council especially through the pandemic. They also spoke about the proactive role played by the student council within the university.

SRIHER recently completed the cycle -3 accreditation for NAAC and we are very proud to note that our university secured Grade A++ with CGPA 3.53 in NAAC Cycle 3 Accreditation. Certificate of appreciation were distributed by Dr. Ravindran, Dean of Dental College to students who participated in the cultural program during the NAAC peer visit. On this occasion, certificates of appreciation were also distributed by Dr Mahesh Vakamudi to a group of students for conducting classes on basic spoken Tamil for fellow students who needed to improve their language skills in Tamil.
Dr P. V Vijayaraghavan, our respected Vice Chancellor addressed the students and enlightened them on the need to develop leadership skills. He appreciated the work of the earlier council and encouraged the new council to take up innovative activities.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by our ever friendly and approachable Mr. Aditya, CRRI B.D.S., Vice president- Student council 2019-2020.
The audience was restricted in the seminar hall due to covid restrictions. The entire event was live streamed on YouTube for students, faculty members and parents of student council members.
