Radiology and Imaging Sciences

About the Department / Program
The Department of Radiology of Sri Ramachandra University started in the year 1986 with faculty strength of three and has grown up to faculty of 27 by 2014. The department has approximately 20,000 square feet of space and is located in the C0, C1 blocks of the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre and also in the inpatient and outpatient – G block. The faculty profile comprises of 19 full time diagnostic radiologists with expertise in every diagnostic modality.

What the Department deals with: 
The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Sri Ramachandra University offers diagnostic services through wide array of imaging modalities, performs academic activities by publications, presentations scientific conferences, conducts research based studies, executes projects organize conferences / workshops for education and also involves in patient care activities, maintain in patient and out patient for interventional procedures and executes intensive care for these patients. This was possible by a dedicated team of Radiologists, Interventionists, technologists and allied health staff.


What in the specialty:
The Radiology department is equipped with a number of fixed High Frequency Radiography machines incorporated with CR system and Digital Radiography unit. Portable radiography units are kept on each floor of the hospital, in the intensive care units, hospital wards and operation theatres. A state of the art Remote Controlled Image Intensifier Fluoroscopy unit with High frequency x-ray generator is available to carry out all the contrast procedures.

ETAP Recognition
Department of Radiology - SRIHER has been recognized by the European Training Assessment Programme (ETAP 2.0) and awarded with the Silver Certificate of Excellence in Radiology education, first in Asia to be awarded. Pioneers in print media have covered this achievement, indeed making this a moment of pride for Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research and the Department of Radiology.
