Prosthodontics

The department of prosthodontics deals with replacement of lost natural teeth and associated structure. It also caters to the need of patients with facial anomalies. The department is closely associated with various departments in the medical faculty like the plastic and oral surgical units in rendering prosthesis for the resected oral and facial structures, which include nose, ear, eye and also part of face. The department is involved in implant supported oral prosthesis and implant supported facial prosthesis. The department has an "Implant clinic" equipped with NSK Srrgi Pro Optic D230 physiodispensor with reduction gear handpiece and external irrigation. The clinic also has a back-up physiodispensor and handpiece. Over the years the implant clinic has worked with numerous implant systems and hence equipped with various implant surgical and prosthetic kits such as Zimmer, Myriad, Neodent etc. Numerous implant related research has been performed over the years with multiple national and international publications by our faculties and postgraduate students. Tthe department is equipped with a  stand-alone "Maxillofacial Rehabilitation clinic" solely for the purpose of treating patients with loss of maxillofacial structures. The department has been succesfully treating such patients for more than a decade through its collaboration with other department in the Medical college of our institute. The Faculty are trained in Intra-oral and extra-oral prosthesis and numerous novel techniques have been developed and published in journals, through the years of treating such patients.  Postgradutes are trained in both Implant and Maxillofacial prosthetics and are encouraged to perform reseacrh and dissertation in the same.

Removable Partial Dentures: - Temperory and removable partial dentures with/without attachments.

Complete dentures: -Conventional, immediate, tooth/implant supported over dentures and telescopic dentures.

Fixed Partial Dentures: -Metal and All ceramic crown and bridges.

Oral Implantolgy: -Single tooth to multiple teeth replacement by osseointegrated implants.

Occlusal Rehabilitations: -Full mouth rehabilitations.

Smile Design:-Esthetic restorations and ceramic veneers

Maxillo Facial Prosthodonics:-Obturators; speach bulb, orbital, nasal,ocular, ear, finger & lip prosthesis; guiding flanges; radiation, pressure, ear, nasal & vaginal stents; feeding and flap supporting plates

Splints:-For Tempero mandibular disorders.

Dr.Lakshmanan, Best Research Publication, Gold medal – Faculty Of Dental Sciences, Sri Ramachandra University 2014 awarded to Dr.Manita Grover, Dr.V.Anand Kumar and Dr.T.V.Padmanabhan.
