Thrust areas for your department
- The success rate of MBBS students in University examinations increased steadily for the last 5 years to the extent of 95% and there are no dropouts. Except for one year, the success rate among PG students continues to be 100 percent. For exemplary performances among UG medical student's two medals are being awarded every year. Similarly Dr.Kesavalu Memorial gold medal is being given for the best out going M.D. Postgraduate student every year.
- The postgraduate students are given Community Oriented training in different public health institutions and also given training in clinical medicine. They are given hands on training in planning and carrying out population based epidemiological studies and research. They undergo specific training in Epidemiology, Bio statistics and SPSS hands on. Necessary statistical knowledge and training is imparted to them to facilitate data management of their research projects. Learning through quiz Programme for post graduates students was introduced and conducted thrice year covering the entire syllabus in community medicine.
- The senior faculties have vast teaching and research experience. The Faculty have undergone Teacher Training programme and Faculty Development programs. The faculty serve as coordinators in the curriculum Development Initiatives, PRODEV program and Faculty development programs. The faculties are also assigned as mentors for the Professional Development of students through longitudinal mentoring system for undergraduates. Faculties act as MCI Observers for the faculty development programmes conducted indifferent parts of this state.
- The department is equipped with computers and Internet facilities are provided in faculty rooms. E journals are accessed through department computers by interlinking with central library subscriptions of Sri Ramachandra University. The department library is updated with latest text books.
