Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing

About the Department / Program
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing is one among the six departments of Faculty of Nursing endowed with the infrastructure required to learn the full spectrum of Obstetrics and Gynaecology nursing care for both the undergraduate and postgraduate students. Nursing Curriculum meet the norms set by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). Experienced nursing faculty members with doctoral qualification are an added strength to the department. Faculty and student actively involving in rendering nursing care to the obstetrics and gynaecological needs of the women and newborn.

Faculty exchange program, interaction with faculty members and students of University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, USA and University of Washington, Seattle enhances to incorporate global emerging trends in our setting.

Vision:
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing is envisioned to prepare competent and caring nursing professional to cater to the needs of women and children and ensure responsibility and quality in nursing service, education and research.

Mission:
Prepare nursing students to render competency based quality care in various obstetrics and gynaecological setting in concordance with legal and ethical aspects.
Imbibe specialized knowledge and skill with appropriate attitude in students to excel in basic, expanded and extended nursing roles.
Train students to conduct research and execute evidence based nursing care in accordance with technological development

Activities:
  • Render quality prenatal nursing care to the mother and newborn as a single unit based on midwifery model.
  • Perform standardized nursing care as reflected in the current policies, procedures and protocols
  • Incorporate nursing process through logical / critical thinking and decision making in various obstetrics and gynaecological settings.
  • Ensure culturally sensitive family centered holistic nursing care.
  • Empower women along with their family to preserve and promote health through health education and counselling.
  • Participate in the collaborative care.
  • Execute research and innovative activities for social and professional development.
