Conferences organized by the department
Annual national rapid review and revision course for post graduates since 2009. Nearly 25 speakers from different parts of the country give the lecture. Approximately 175 students participate and benefit from the program.
Programs By International Guest Speakers
- Guest lecture by Dr.Satheesh Elangovan from University of Iowa, USA on Guided Bone Regeneration – 15-6-2016. Attended by 75 delegates.
- A guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Purnima Kumar, PhD from OHIO State University, Columbus, USA on the Role of molecular biology techniques (OMICS) in enabling risk assessment for periodontal diseases. The Programme was held on 24/12/2018 in which 76 participants including faculties and PGs of various reputed dental colleges in Chennai were benefited.
- Our department in association with Oral Maxillofacial Surgery conducted a One Day Workshop on “Suturing Techniques”. The Course Mentor was Dr Stuart Orton-Jones BDS, LDS, RCS from Northamptonshire, England. 32 delegates (Postgraduates & Faculty) attended the program from the Departments of Periodontics, Oral Surgery and Paedodontics. The delegates were trained on the armamentarium, instrument grasps and suturing techniques by Dr Stuart Orton- Jones.
Programs By National Guest Speakers
- A one day workshop on piezosurgery was organized in association with ACTEON India Pvt LTD titled “New Paradigms in Hard Tissue Management” on 30th April 2019. Dr. Dhandapani Arunachalam MDS.,DICOI was the guest speaker and resource person for the programme. The programme comprised of live demo of various piezosurgical procedures on animal models followed by hands-on session by the participants. The invited lecture was well attended by the faculties, interns and postgraduate students. A total of 55 participants attended the lecture and 20 participated in hands on workshop.
