Dept. of Orthodontics observed the World Orthodontist Day on 5th 0ct. The events included:
Public awareness booth.
Wire bending competition on the theme, ‘ Golden Proportions’ for BDS students
Debate on ‘Orthodontic / Dental Profession – Is the focus on healthcare or esthetics?’.
A Camp is conducted every month at Thiruvannamalai for cleft lip and palate patients. A team comprising of faculty and two post graduate students conduct and provide Orthodontic treatment for patients with cleft lip and palate.
The Department of Orthodontics celebrated the “Smile torch campaign” as a part of 50th year of Indian Orthodontic Society on 18th August 2015 to create public awareness about orthodontic treatment. A smile walk was organised within the campus and other events like skits enacted by undergraduate students to educate the public in G block and dental college lobby. Contests like best smile contest, best groupie contest and best smile slogan contest were conducted.

Professor Dr. Arun B Chitharanjan organises a comprehensive screening and treatment camp at Poomparai village once in every three months. Three such camps has been conducted successfully.
