The Department of Nephrology of Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Sri Ramachandra University established in the year 1995 is a premier centre for specialized nephrology care. It is one of the country’s leading dialysis and renal transplant centers.
The Department of Nephrology includes specialists in kidney disease(nephrologists) as well as specialized and experienced paramedical personnel to treat patients with care and compassion and provide the ideal environment for patients to receive the most advanced, innovative diagnostic and treatment facilities in a coordinated fashion. During the last 20 years since its inception the department has grown steadily every year in terms of number of patients, procedures, staff and the facilities. During any given year, the physicians including staff of Nephrology provide care to more than 20,000 patients.
Since inception, the Department of Nephrology at Sri Ramachandra University has focused on constant improvement in various services. The Department of Nephrology offers diagnosis and treatment for all types of kidney diseases and evaluation and management of hypertension. The department participates in an active renal transplant program, both live related and deceased donors. All modalities of dialysis care, and clinical research studies are carried out on a regular basis.
The nephrologists along with physicians and other superspeciality consultants plan meticulous care of patients as and when they require integrated team management. The department emphasizes to have a strong relationships with patients and referring physicians.

It has a MCI recognized 3 year DM postgraduate course. In addition it also has 4 year BSc. course in Dialysis Technology (Allied Health sciences) and recently 2 year course in MSc. Renal Sciences.
