About the Department / Program
The Department was started in the year 1994. Since then rapid strides has been made. A well furnished outpatient department is available. Two dedicated modern operation theatres are available equipped with all modern equipments, instruments and trained staff nurses. In the neurosurgery hospital, intensive care unit with 25 bedded ICU is well equipped and is being managed by trained neuroanaesthetist and nursing staff . Round the clock, personnel are available to manage trauma, emergencies for both inpatients and outpatients.In addition to developing the department of Neurosurgery indisputably to an advanced centre for microneurosurgery and microvascular surgery, in particular widened its field of services to functional neurosurgery. Stereotactic, neuroendoscopic procedures, CV junction abnormalities and spinal disorders are being constantly managed with great efficiency.
On an average the outpatient attendance of patients is about 40 per working day and the average number of major neurosurgical operations carried out is around 400 per year.
