The Department is undertaking MBBS training of students in the areas
of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Medical jurisprudence including Medical Negligence, Medical Ethics and
Forensic Pathology through Large group Lectures, Tutorials and Small group Practical classes for MBBS
students.
The Department has taken up post-graduation course (MD) in Forensic
Medicine since 2011 recognized by the Medical Council of India, which is the first private medical
college in whole of Tamil Nadu to achieve this till date. The department admits three postgraduate students
per year who are trained in medico-legal works including autopsy, casualty services, medico-legal
documentation, exhumation, court procedures etc.
The Department has further extended its academic hand by inaugurating M.Sc
Forensic science in the year 2021 and involved in training the students in field of Documentation,
cyber security, ballistics and other crime scene handling techniques.
Inter-disciplinary academic activities bridging with departments such
as Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology, Pathology, Accident, and Emergency Medicine, Sports
Medicine, Biomedical Sciences etc are also taken up regularly.
Innovative teaching practices include live demonstration of autopsy
which can be viewed by the students and other beneficiaries sitting in any class room in the medical
college. The department also has a state of art museum having a wide collection of articles in the
form of weapons, poisons, charts, models, specimens etc providing an ideal platform for learning.
