Dr(Lt Col) T Vijaya Sagar, is an experienced and acclaimed teacher of anatomy. He is passionate about imparting clinically relevant knowledge through a judicious blend of traditional instructor led training and innovative and emerging technologies. With his proficiency in computers and multimedia recording and editing, he is playing a key role in the development and implentation of assisted e-learning programs and moodle enabled e-portal for the benefit of students. The faculty in the department are also being trained by him in the production of innovative e-lessons.
As the national co-ordinator (Anatomy) for the National programme in Technology enhanced learning (NPTEL) funded by the ministry of human resource development, Govt of India, he is responsible for conducting video recording of anatomy lectures by faculty of eminence from all over India. Video recordings are conducted in the NPTEL Swayamprabha AV studio located within SRMC campus. Video recordings are broadcast via DTH Swayamprabha educational TV channel free of cost .
His prior experience in the Army Medical Corps and as professor of anatomy at the Armed Forces Medical College Pune endow him an abundant amount of administrative experience.
Dr Vijaya Sagar is also chief warden of all the hostels located in Sri Ramachandra University. He is responsible for the smooth functioning of all the hostels and ensuring that students stay in a safe, clean and healthy environment which is conducive to pursuit of academics and overall personality development.
Apart from scientific paper presentations at various national conferences of Anatomical society of India, his primary research focus has been on integration of emerging technologies into the traditional teaching methods. The noted works and publications include
Cross sectional anatomy and Correlated Clinical Imaging: Interactive DVD ROM produced as scientific project funded under the Armed Forces Medical Research Committee by the Ministry of Defence. A unique project (1997-2002) executed in collaboration with the Visible Human Project of the National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Author of Text book on Human Histology. Also the principal author and designer of Interactive Human Histology DVD ROM. Principal author, designer and software developer of Interactive assisted e-learning program on Human Embryology for medical students.
