Research interest:

She brings significant experience in teaching and is recognized for her research contribution in environmental health and education. Her research focus is towards environmental epidemiology and respiratory health outcomes due to air pollution and heat stress. She has been involved in diversified areas of environment and health in the capacity of principal and co-investigator in several national and international extra-mural research projects. Her recent research is focused on biomarkers and heat related health hazards in various occupational sectors. Besides, she has a passion towards research among women and she looks forward for improvement in women’s health and social empowerment of the downtrodden. She organized ResMEcon-2019 focusing on the dual areas of Respiratory health and Medical Education which brought eminent speakers and researchers under one platform to disseminate the recent advances in the above fields. She organized the first Alumni meet of post graduates in commemoration of vicennial celebration.

Award:

Over the years she has received many prestigious awards. “New Young Investigator Award” for the year 2006 installed by the GATE project, Sri Ramachandra University and “Lung India Award “by the Indian Chest Society in 2011 for the outstanding original article. She was also awarded the “Research Ambassador” award by Sri Ramachandra University in March 2017 for her contribution in research. Besides receiving best paper awards in national conferences, she was the first faculty to receive GATE award when it was introduced by the University. . Recently “Distinguished activity award” by World Sleep Society was awarded to the Department of Physiology under her leadership for the outreach activities conducted in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Mind Body Medicine & Lifestyle Sciences, SRIHER.
